CHIC SHOES(day)

For all you girls out there who happen to have a shoe fetish and a sweet tooth (I love Smarties more than anything!) I have a treat for you. Sarajevo designer Belma Arnautović has created a collection of shoes inspired by candies, including these candy-filled heels that are completely wearable. I personally wouldn't wear them but have to admit they are cute, fun and eccentric.

Pre všetky z vás rodu ženského, ktoré ste závislé na topánkach a sladkostiach zároveň ( ja napríklad milujeeeeeem lentilky), mám pre vás dnes skutočnú lahôdku. Sarajevská dizajnérka Belma Arnautovic vytvorila kolekciu inšpirovanú práve sladkosťami. A verte-neverte, všetko sú to nositeľné kúsky. Osobne by som si ich na nohy nedala, ale inak sú milé, zábavné a výstredné.

It was a haircut that gave Linda Evangelista her big break. British Vogue picked up the shots of her new look and Linda's career went stellar. Known as one of the five original supermodels, she is regarded as one of those who changed the face of fashion in the late 1980's and early 1990's.

Za jej úspechom stojí radikálna zmena účesu a britské Vogue, ktoré ju angažovalo hneď po zhliadnutí jej nového výzoru. Úspech sa dostavil okamžite a ako jedna z piatich originálnych supermodeliek sveta patrí medzi tých, ktorí vo veľkom ovplyvnili módu na konci 80-tych a začiatku 90-tych rokov.

Drama Queen, Part 1

Big straw = hat my new obsession for summer. I tried on some yesterday and I was beyond myself. Felt like I am about to attend Kentucky Derby or somethin:) This timeless fashionable accessory is a symbol of elegance, luxury and sophistication but there are few things to remember: Big hats with wide brims are a great way to update your look, just make sure you don’t accidentally knock someone over every time you turn around:) Also, keep the rest of your outfit simple. Pair a hat with a clean and fresh outfit, maybe even solid colors and more classic lines.

Veľký slamený klobúk = to, po čom moje srdce momentálne piští. Práve včera som si ich zopár vyskúšala a poviem vám, cítila som tak nejako inak, dobre, akoby som bola na ceste na Kentucké derby (dostihy). Tento nesmrteľný módny doplnok je skutočným symbolom elegancie, luxusu a sofistikovanosti. Napriek tomu je dobré pamätať si ale, že: hoci je veľký klobúk so širokou stuhou skvelým spôsobom, ako okamžite oživiť look, môže byť i nebezpečnou zbraňou, ktorá položí na lopatky každého okoloidúceho. Takže otáčať sa s klobúkom na hlave veľmi opatrne:) No a po druhé, klobúk je tak výrazným doplnkom, že zbytok vášho outfitu by sa mal niesť v znamení jednoduchosti, čistých línií a klasických strihov.

According to Hungarian designer Kata Szegedi, the Ladylike 'Power-Woman' of the 21th Century is the woman who values the expression of originality in her day-to-life. Can not agree more.

Podľa maďarskej módnej návrhárky Katy Szegedi je rozhodnou a ušľachtilou ženou 21.storočia tá, ktorá vie oceniť originalitu a nebojí sa vyčnievania z rady. A s tým ja môžem len súhlasiť.

CHIC SHOES(day)

"So my first prototype arrives. But something was missing. Thank God I had this girl with me who was painting her nails. I grabbed the nailpolish and I painted the sole."

It's not easy to create an interesting yet original ad for shoes. That's why the Christian Louboutin one from last year deserves our full attention. As you can see the footwear was exquisitely presented in the photoshoot that imitates romantic things from the 18th century.

Nie je ľahké vymyslieť zaujímavú a zároveň originálnu reklamnú kampaň na topánky. Aj preto si myslím, že minuloročná kampaň Christiana Louboutina propominajúca romantiku 18.storočia si právom zaslúži našu upriamenú pozornosť.

Tilda Swinton is possibly the least ordinary actress around. Unbelievable how misleading appearance can be sometimes. Isn't she breathtaking?

Tilda Swinton je pravdepodobne tá najmenej obyčajná herečka, akú poznám. Niekedy sa mi až nechce veriť, aký zavádzajúci dokáže byť výzor. No nie je uchvatná?

On May 5th the Costume Institute at Metropolitan Museaum will open a new show called "American Woman: Fashionising and National Identity." I think it would be absolutely amazing to see different female archetypes and the role that fashion played in creating them. And when you say American woman and fashion, SJP is one of those who cross my mind right away. Here she is Vogue's May issue. I love the styling and I can only wish women would dress like this all the time. Even today. Maybe you think I'm uptight but I don't find anything graceful or chic about wearing leggings with shirts that hit at or above the waistband...

Piateho mája sa v Metropolitnom múzeu spustí nová výstava pod názvom Americká žena: móda a národná identita. Nepochybujem o tom, aké úžasné by bolo vidieť ženy z rozličných období a to, ako ich ovlyvnila móda. V spojení módy a ženy Američanky ma okrem iných okamžite napadne aj SJP, ktorá je hlavnou hviezdou májového čísla Vogue. Stajling je úchvatný a jediné, čo si pri pohľade na tieto fotky želám je, aby sme mohli my ženy takto chodiť oblečené stále. Možno sa vám teraz poniektorým nadvihne obočie, ale ja nevidím nič pôvabného ani šik na nosení legín a trička siahajúceho nad či tesne pod pás...

We're going to Abu Dhabi!

A longer version of the Sex and the City 2 trailer has been released and I think the ladies look better than ever (do you remember Miranda in season 1?). It also shows flashes of Liza Minnelli, Penélope Cruz, Miley Cyrus (I'm sorry but I don't get this one), John Corbett as Aidan Shaw (oh la la) but most importantly, Carrie’s closet. Although I would take Samantha's Lady Gaga red dress adorned with spikes in an instant!

Na internete sa objavila nová, dlhšia verzia upútavky na Sex v meste 2 a poviem vám, podľa mňa v ňom vyzerajú dámy lepšie ako kedykoľvek predtým (pamätáte si ešte na módne začiatky Mirandy?). Vo filme sa tentokrát objaví aj Liza Minnelli, Penelope Cruz, Miley Cyrus (tomuto jedinému nechápem), John Corbett ako Aidan Shaw (o óóó), no najmä Carrie a jej šatníííííííííííík. Aj keď teda tie Samantine červené Lady Gaga šaty s ostňami na pleciach by som brala okamžite!

A Slovak Treasure or...

Martin Hrča is one of the emerging designers in Slovakia who came to spotlight after winning Brillance Fashion Talent in 2008, the young designers competition held in Bratislava. I was able to ask him few questions for you but because it would be too much to translate and too much text for one blog post, I would like to ask all my lovely English speaking readers to use Google Translate this time around. And if it doesn't make any sense, please at least enjoy this beautiful pictures (you can tell how talented Martin is just from looking at them) or check out his website: http://martinhrca.sk.

1. Prečo zo všetkých možných povolaní práve módny návrhár?

Noo..stále tvrdím, že ja som si to nevybral. Ono si to vybralo mňa. Môžme to nazvať talent, alebo kreativitu - to som dostal pri narodení zadarmo. Tá “tvorivá aktivita” zo mňa vychádzala akosi sama, celkom prirodzene už úplne od malička. Potom sa v tom už len bolo treba zorientovať, a našťastie tie handry vyhrali medzi ostatnými disciplínami. Fascinácia krásou, ľudským telom a čarovný svet prehliadkového zákulisia a tvorby odevu ma úplne opantali. Možnosť narábať s proporciami, farbami, množstvom materiálov mi umožnilo uletieť do úplne iného sveta..
2. Čo podľa teba znamená mať štýl?
Mať štýl znamená byť sám sebou. Mať na sebe odev, ktorí o človeku hovorí to, aký v skutočnosti je, aký má názor na život. Mať štýl znamená vedieť odolať vplyvu väčšiny a nájsť si prvky, ktoré budú typické len pre danú osobu aj napriek diktátu krátkodobých trendov, sociálnemu zázemiu a pod.
3. Osobne mám pocit, ze Slováci (ženy aj muži) sú ešte stále v obliekaní skôr konzervatívni. Čo si myslíš, prečo to tak je?

Je to zložitá situácia, samozrejme ovplyvnená bývalími politickými situáciami na našom území, odkaz minulosti a pocit akejsi menejcennosti je u našincov citeľný doteraz. Naše postavenie v Uhorsku, v rámci Českosloveska, bývaly režim u nás… Stále sa potrebujeme niekomu páčiť, niekomu sa vyrovnať, stále máme vzor, ktorý treba napodobniť a ktorý je akože lepší než mať ten náš. A to vedie k uniformite, k tomu, že ludia siahajú po istote a k tomu, čo im niekto nalinkuje. Byť individuálny je rizikom, ešte chvíľu potrvá, kým si ľudia uvedomia, že byť sám sebou je lepšie než podobať sa niekomu…našťastie už aj u nás stretávať prvých odvážlivcov.
4. Máš svoju múzu?
Múza? Žena ako princíp…vo všeobecnosti poňaté zmýšľanie ženy, kuchárky, hollywoodskej divy, poštárky, top-manažérky, černošky, katolíčky, študentky…je neuveriteľné množstvo ženských túžob ktoré ma inšpirujú…samozrejme to platí aj o mužoch, ale tam je to ešte o čosi zložitejšie, ženy skôr dokážu verbalizovať po čom túžia.
