Golden Hands

I first found about her through my blog. She posted a comment on one of the articles. It got me curious. And let me tell you, I was pleasantly surprised about my findings. More that that. I was happy, very happy. Another talented designer from my home country! Zlatica (Zlatka) Hujbertova. Her designs are beautiful, yet edgy. They have personality. They live and breathe. They are shocking, expressive and controversial. When it comes to inspiration, Zlatka finds it in her friends, different situations and life challenges we must face in the course of our lives. She doesn't really have the most favourite designers but if so, it would be Vivienne Westwood, Alexander McQueen a Jakub Polanka. She can't live without TV, internet and her friends. Zlatka's biggest achievement so far is receiving a New Designer Award "Dunajska perla 2010" and also a chance to showcase her work and designs during the fashion show in NY called Slovak Fashion Night.... and she fell in love with NY. Ahhh...No wonder her biggest dream right now is to have a studio in Brooklyn. Under one condition only: friends and family included!
PS: Did I say already how madly in love I am with this fabulous dress and its long train?

Prvý raz som sa o ňu začala zaujímať, keď zakomentovala na jeden z mojich článkov tu na blogu. Zistila som, že je návrhárka. Náramne talentovaná. A Slovenka. Zlatica Hujbertová. Jej návrhy sú krásne a zároveň na hrane.  Majú vlastnú osobnosť, žijú a dýchajú. Sú šokojúce, expresívne a kontroverzné. Čo sa týka inšpirácie, sú ňou jej priatelia a situácie či problémy, ktoré vo svete reflektujeme. Na Bratislavských módnych dňoch získala ocenenie "Dunajská perla 2010"za objav v módnej tvorbe. Aj keď vyslovene najviac obľúbených návrhárov nemá, najbližšia je jej tvorba Vivienne Westwood, Alexandra McQueena a Jakuba Polanku. Nemôže žiť bez televízie, internetu, priateľov a rodiny. Tých by so sebou najradšej zobrala do NY, kde by raz chcela mať svoj vlastný ateliér. Práve do New Yorku sa zaľúbila počas svojej nedávnej návštevy, kedy mala možnosť počas Slovak Fashion Night odprezentovať na móle to najlepšie zo svojej minuloročnej kolekcie s názvom Bratislava/Odvrátená tvár. PS: Povedala som už, ako nesmierne mimo som z týchto nádherných šiat s dlhou vlečkou?

The moment I saw this picture I knew this is the type of business casual I love. Well, not that I can picture myself running around the office in briefs but there is something about this styling that makes me feel relaxed and happy. 

V momente, keď som videla túto fotografiu, vedela som, že to je presne ten typ tzv. business casual oblečenia, ktoré sa mi pozdáva. Nieže by som si vedela predstaviťsamú seba pobehovať po kanceláriách oblečenú len v slipoch, ale jednoducho niečo na tomto stajlingu je také, čo ma nesmierne baví, upokojuje a robí šťastnou.

C.I.N.D.Y.

Oh Cindy...I remember growing up and dreaming about looking like her one day. Obviously that didn't happen. Not even from a distance. I even used to steal my Mum's eye liner to make a beauty mark above my lip similar to hers. Apparently she was discovered at the age of 16 by a newspaper photographer while at work, during her summer job of detasseling corn. So there you have it. Detasseling corn!!!! Wish I knew that one sooner...

Óch, Cindy...Pamätám si, ako som ju vyrastala snívajúc o tom, že raz budem vyzerať ako ona. Asi vám je všetkým jasné, že sa tak nestalo. Ani len s privretými očami a z diaľky. A to nehovorím o tom, že som si dokonca s mamkinou ceruzkou na oči maľovala znamienko krásy nad hornú peru! Cindy vraj objavil fotograf, keď mala len 16.násť. Pri práci počas letnej brigády. V kukuričnom poli. Tak a máme to. Tajomstvo je v kukurici!!! To keby som vedela skorej...

Espadrilles, the ultimate summer accessory. They are absolutely everywhere. They are comfy, light and you can get them in different colours. The question is: would you wear them? BTW, I have a feeling that people like Picasso, JFK and Grace Kelly would approve them:)

PS: Do you know it was Yves St. Laurent who special ordered espadrilles to be made with a heel, something that had never been done before? It was an instant hit.

Espadrily. Základná obuv tohto leta. Nájdete ich úplne všade. Sú pohodlné, ľahké a vo farbách od výmyslu sveta. Otázka znie, nosili by ste ich? Len tak na okraj, taký Picasso, JFK či Grace Kelly by ich určite schválili.
PS: Vedeli ste, že YSL bol ten, ktorý si nechal špeciálne vyrobiť espadrily s opätkami, niečo, čo dovtedy nikto nevidel? A že to bol hit!

Summer Time

I know officially it's not summer yet but it surely feels like one. I can feel it in my bones. And smell it in the air. And because I really do feel all refreshed and energized, I decided to do some changes to my blog. The main one is the header. It was difficult (3 years!) but hey, change is good, right? So I hope you like it. Have a beautiful start to the week!
 
Ja viem, že to oficiálne leto ešte nezačalo, ale ja ho už cítim v kostiach. A vo vzduchu. A kedže sa cítim z toho celá taká svieža a rozjarená, rozhodla som trošku zmeniť vizuál blogu. Bolo to ťažké, ako asi každá zmena (a ešte k tomu po troch rokoch), ale bolo načase. Dúfam, že sa vám bude páčiť aspoň trošku. Tak teda krásny začiatok nového týždňa!

I'm such a sucker for an original and unique pieces of jewelry. And they don't even need to be diamonds. As long as they are jaw-dropping. Like this large bib necklace from Asos.

Som totálne zaťažená na originálne a zaujímavé šperky. A nemusia to byť ani diamanty. Mne úplne postačí také, pri pohľade na ktoré okoloidúcim padne sánka. Ako pri tomto masívnom náhrdelníku z Asos.

Anastasia Radevich. Canadian footwear designer. Used to work with Alexander McQueen and Nicholas Kirkwood (I think you can tell:)). You might have seen her incredible designs on my blog already. This particular pair is from her last collection called Dreamfall. 

Anastasia Radevich. Kanadská návrhárka topánok. Okrem iného pracovala aj pre Alexandra McQueena a Nicholasa Kirkwooda, ale to vám asi ani nemusím vravieť, je to natoľko očividné:) Jej úchvatné výtvory ste už na mojom blogu vidieť mohli, tento konkrétny párik je z jej poslednej kolekcie Dreamfall.

Happy Hour!

These colours are striking...As for the Prada dress in the first picture - I thought I would get sick of it by now but the opposite is true. I want it really badly! For those of you, who knows their colour palette and are wondering if they can wear such a powerful mix of neon colours, my answer is YES. Do it! This is the right time and place. It's almost summer and that's the time to play and have fun.

Tieto farby sú odzbrojujúce. Čo sa týka Prada šiat na prvej fotografii, bola som presvedčená, že vďaka tomu, že sú doslova všade, ma omrzia veľmi rýchlo. Opak je pravdou. Chcem ich ešte viac! A pre tých z vás, ktorí poznajú svoje farby a dumajú, či takého výrazné a krikľavé kombinácie nosiť, kedže nepatria do ich škály, odpovedaám áno. Kedy inokedy, ak nie tu a teraz? Okrem toho, ide leto a vtedy je to celé predovšetkým o radosti zo života, pestrosti a umeniu vedieť sa uvoľniť a zabaviť. Tak prečo nie?

I Can See The Rainbow!

And there she is! Freelance stylist and fashion editor for Crash Magazine. Owner of the cutest pixie hair I've ever seen. She also collaborates with other publications such as Vogue Japan, Glamour, Qvest, Lula or Bazaar. She has a colourful and fun house full of various toys, silly objects and a lots of shoes (see the one below as an example)!!! Well, what can I say, Elisa surely knows how to wear different colours and how to combine them. And trust me, it's not always easy to get it right... 

A tu ju máte! Štylistka a módna editorka Crash magazínu. Majiteľka toho najkrajšieho pixie strihu a spolupracovníčka publikácií ako Vogue Japan, Glamour, Qvest, Bazaar či Lula. Jej byt je farebný a veselý, všade samé hračky, somarinky od výmyslu sveta a tiež veľa topánok (jedny z nich ste tu mohli obdivovať v utorok).  Čo vám poviem, Elisa jednoducho vie, ako nosiť farby a ako ich správne kombinovať. A že to nie je vždy jednoduché...

Teddy Bear

I fell in love with the girl from the moment I saw her. Fell in love with her style. With her relaxed and very 'casual Sunday' look. And then I noticed the Teddy Bear and that was it. She scored BIG for me! 

Zamilovala som sa do nej v momente, ako som uzrela jej fotku. Konkrétne do toho, čo má na sebe. Do jej veľmi 'nedeľnopohodového' vzhľadu. A potom som uvidela priblížený detail na kapucňu a to ma dostalo úplne. Ten jej Macko Uško! Za neho dostáva odo mňa plný počet bodov!

...Or that's how many people call Costume Institute Gala benefit held every year in Metropolitan Museum of Art in NY. And let me tell you, it's a red carpet like you haven't seen before. Although I was a bit disappointed that not that many ladies chose Alexander McQueen that night. And here we have gala honouring his 19-year career...So here are my favourite looks from the night: Diane Kruger in Jason Wu, Gisele Bundchen in McQueen, Ashley Olsen in Christian Dior, Blake Lively in Chanel, Eva Mendes in Stella McCartney, Jennifer Lopez in Gucci and Karolina Kurkova in Jean Paul Gaultier. I tak mnohí nazývajú Costume Institute Gala benefit, ktorý sa koná každoročne v máji v New Yorku. A poviem vám, takú módnu prehliadku ste ešte nevideli. Osobne mi bolo ľúto, že hoci bol celý benefit i výstava venovaná tvorbe Alexandra McQueena, pomerne málo dám si ho na seba v ten večer oblieklo. Napriek tomu sa bolo na čo pozerať. Tu sú moje úplne NAJky večera: Diane Kruger v Jason Wu, Gisele Bundchen v McQueenovi, Ashley Olsen v Christian Dior, Blake Lively a Chanel, Eva Mendes v Stelle McCartney, Jennifer Lopez v Gucci a Karolina Kurkova v Jean Paul Gaultier.
